2008 INFO UPDATE

2008 is the 'perfect storm' of soaring fuel prices, unseasonable and uncooperative weather, and overall costs increasing at an alarming rate for everyone.

As with orchards and farms throughout the country, Rockridge Orchards is experiencing substantial losses in our orchard and field crops this year.

After close evaluation and much hand-wringing, we've made the extremely difficult decision to cut several farmer's markets from our schedule for the rest of the 2008 season.

We've reduced our farmer's market schedule to: Columbia City on Wednesday and Bellevue on Thursday thru October. University District on Saturday, Ballard and West Seattle on Sunday thru the rest of the year.
We're also temporarily taking the farm and Tasting Room to appointment only.

It looks like it'll be a tough year for everyone. You have our sincerest thanks for your past business. We'll weather this storm and hope for a much better 2009.

 What is Rockridge Orchards? 

Well first we are an Asian Pear Orchards.   We have approximatly 3,200 asian pear trees with 17 different varieties from Japan, China, Korea and throughout the Asian rim.

We also have 6,000 Apple Trees, 44 different varieties mostly cider varieties.

We have a two acre Fig orchard planted in 2001 and an Asian Plum orchard as well.

On top of all that, we have a shy 3 acres of vineyard, with 15 different types of grapes - some seedless table varieties, but mostly Pinot.  Our first vintage should be in 2008.

We have 3 acres of Raspberries - hand harvesting sweet red and gold berries June, July and August.

We have been bottling sweet cider since 1996 and hard cider and fruit wines since 2005.

If that wasn't enough we have 5 acres and a 106 varieties of Bamboo from all over the world.

We also grow and sell tomatoes, honey, cherries, cucumbers, peas, beans, lettuce, onions, garlic, squash, cilantro, shallots, radishes, turnips, tea leaves, etc.   See our Farm section.
